Aldi’s 96 stores across Scotland stock some of the finest and best value locally-sourced food and drink. Proud to work with over 90 local suppliers and stock more than 450 Scottish products, Aldi are committed to increasing the number of Scottish products available in stores to over 500 in the next two years and bringing the best of Scotland’s larder to its customers. From fresh dairy produce and the finest Scotch beef, to eggs laid by Scottish hens and locally grown fruit and vegetables, Aldi source from all over Scotland. By working closely with Scottish producers, Aldi continues to build a range that is recognised for its quality, value and strong provenance credentials, which was recognised when Aldi was crowned Scottish Sourcing Business of the Year at the last Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.

Now firmly established as the fourth largest volume retailer in Scotland (according to Kantar), 2021 will see Aldi open it’s 100th store in Scotland. Last year, Aldi invested over £22 million in new chill facilities for its regional distribution centre in Bathgate to help support the growth of its Scottish product range, including constructing a 4,000sq m freezer and a 13,000sq m chiller which opened in April 2020.

Aldi is set to invest £20 million in new stores this year, which include Hermiston Gait in Edinburgh, Thornybank Industrial Estate in Dalkeith, Portlethen Retail Park in Aberdeen, and J24 Retail Park in Govan, while a new store in Gateside Commerce Park, Haddington will open to replace the existing store. Aldi will also invest in upgrading its Rutherglen, Strathaven, Forfar, and Inverness stores.

Since 2012, Aldi has run numerous in-store Scottish Beer Festivals to showcase the finest craft beers from breweries across Scotland and this year will celebrate it’s 25th Beer Festival in October. In 2020 alone, 77 different craft beers from 16 breweries across their 3 Festivals were showcased with over 195,000 bottles and cans on shelf. Aldi has become known, in Scotland, for their extensive range of locally brewed craft beers and each Beer Festival outperforms expectations every time. Aldi is the proud headline sponsor for the Scottish Beer Awards again in 2021, further strengthening their commitment and enthusiasm for local tastes and brewing techniques.
